Numerous Injuries Reported after String of Golf Cart Crashes in Florida
Within the past week, numerous people have been injured in a string of golf cart crashes across Florida. Many of these accidents have occurred in golfing areas, retirement communities, and other areas where these alternative vehicles have recently surged in popularity. While golf carts are popular across many age groups, critics have highlighted their various hazards. Although these hazards often fall under the radar, incidents like these illustrate just how dangerous golf carts can be:
Critical Injury Reported After Tampa Golf Cart Crash
In March of 2024, Fox 13 reported that a golf cart passenger had been critically injured after colliding with a car in Tampa. Very little additional information was released to the public, although the passenger was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. There was no word on additional injuries, and police say that the crash remains under investigation. Some of the worst golf cart crashes involve collisions with SUVs, cars, and trucks. It goes without saying that golf carts are not as sturdy as these road vehicles, and severe injuries for golf cart occupants are almost guaranteed. Tampa has seen numerous golf cart crashes within the past year as these vehicles become increasingly popular.
Elderly Man Dies After Golf Cart Rollover
At around the same time, it was reported that an elderly individual had lost his life after a rollover golf cart accident. Although details are sparse, it seems that the golf cart somehow rolled backward onto the individual before causing fatal crush injuries. This accident may have occurred after the driver attempted to navigate a particularly hilly area. In these types of cases, we can help.
Villager Faces DUI Charges After Crashing into Minivan
Also in March of 2024, it was reported that a Villager was facing DUI charges after crashing her 2019 Yamaha golf cart into a minivan. The accident occurred at Pinellas Plaza, and the Wildwood Police Department says that the minivan incurred about $1,000 in damages. After arriving at the scene, the police eventually concluded that the golf cart driver was probably intoxicated. Although she agreed to a field sobriety test, she seemingly failed to stand up straight and seemed “unsteady” on her feet. The woman later justified her lack of balance, claiming that she takes many different kinds of medication. This justification seemed to fall on deaf ears, however, as she was still charged with DUI.
